Penang War Museum

[View] World War II war relics, the trenches built by the British army were defeated by Japan and changed to prisons and prison rooms for war criminals. During the Japanese Occupation around 1942, this fortress was captured and turned into a headquarters where prisoners of war were held, tortured and killed.

The fort construction project was entrusted to the British royal engineer team with the help of prisoners who were sentenced to death.

Original artefacts such as cauldrons, equipment for torturing prisoners and fragments of crockery are also on display here.

Many may not be aware that the Penang War Museum at the top of Bukit Batu Maung is the largest museum in Southeast Asia built in 1930.

It used to be a historic place in Penang that has been used as a storage place for weapons, tunnels, prison cells and more.
