in my opinion, the statue is more like a totem, one hand holds book, one hand, pointing to the direction of the American continent Columbus in the face of the sea, "to the west, to the west" shout and behind saturated with faith, has been deeply integrated into the once sea overlord of every people in the blood.

The statue is high more than 7 meter, it's placed at the site where Christoffel Columbus arrived in 1493 after his discovery of America the year before.
Monument to the most famous Spaniard. A majestic monument, at the very top of which there is an observation deck.
Though it was many years ago it is a land mark so old you can't stop staring at it once you see it. The artistry is excellent.
It's an impressive monument surrounded by traffic. It makes for some nice photos juxtaposing the past with the present.
