Emperor Wenchang Temple is one of the Eight Temples in Beijing, located in Maoer Hutong, Beicheng, also known as Zitong Temple in Wenchang. Wenchang Palace, also known as Wenchang Temple, Wenchang Emperor is the God of culture and religion which combines Wenchangxing and Zitong Emperor. Both Wenchangxing and Zitong Emperor are the gods of Taoism who dominate the position of merit, fame and wealth. Yuan Renzong Yanyou three years (1316) combines them as "Emperor Wenchang of Kaihua Wenchang and Emperor Hongren of Wenchang", so they are called Wenchang Emperor. Wenchang Temple was built between Emperor Yuan Shun and Zheng Dynasty, and was repaired in Jiaqing six years (1801), Qing Dynasty. Wenchang Temple has mountain gate, bell and drum tower, Kuiguang Hall, Guixiang Hall (to worship Emperor Wenchang), imperial stele pavilion.
