Jiehu Bridge

The bridge is located at the boundary between the lake and the Houxi River in the Summer Palace and the Kunming Lake. It is the northernmost bridge in the west embankment. It was built in 1750, burned by British and French invaders in 1860, and rebuilt in 1886. In the Qinghui Garden era, the bridge was called Liuqiao, while the Liuqiao at the southern end of the Xidi was called the Border Lake Bridge, and the names of the two bridges were easy to re-establish when the Summer Palace was rebuilt. The Jiehu Bridge is31.43 meters long, the widest part of the bridge is 6.52 meters, the narrowest part is 4.28 meters, the height of the bridge is about 5.84 meters, there are 20 steps on both sides of the north and south, and there are 27 railings on both sides of the bridge. There are three square bridge holes, which have a local atmosphere.

Jiehu Bridge is the first of six bridges on the west embankment of Beijing Summer Palace, and the junction bridge between Kunming Lake Outer Lake and Inner Lake. The other 5 bridges on the West Dike have pavilions except the Jade Belt Bridge. Only the Border Lake Bridge does not have them. In fact, it is not. The Border Lake Bridge was built in Qianlong. There were pavilions on the bridge, but it was destroyed in 1860 by the invasion of the British and French coalition forces, and it was not repaired in the later period. When the Summer Palace was reopened to the world, the Border Lake Bridge retained the style of the no-bridge pavilion.

There are six bridges on the west embankment of the Summer Palace. Of which, the Jiehu Bridge is the north side of the bridge and the first bridge to the west embankment. The Jiehu Bridge is relatively close to the Tuancheng Lake. The scenery is very beautiful. The design style of the Jiehu Bridge is significantly different from the other five bridges.
