The Chaoyang Garden Festival and Vernal Equinox Cultural Festival at Ritan Park
Yesterday, 3.20, was the day of the Vernal Equinox in the lunar calendar, and Ritan Park was even more bustling than a temple fair. The first Beijing Chaoyang Garden Festival and the seventeenth Vernal Equinox Chaoyang Cultural Festival kicked off at Ritan Park. Besides the opening ceremony at the Round Altar at nine in the morning, which required tickets for entry, all activities at the main venue and throughout the park were free of charge after ten o'clock. Parks across the Chaoyang District had flower bed displays, and despite the season still being a mix of warm and cold, most were decorated with fresh flowers. Along the red walls in the park, there was a large-scale Spring Festival cultural market. Starting at ten o'clock, there were performances on the central stage, as well as surrounding activities such as lion dancing, wrestling, and community dance team performances. In the past, Ritan Park's Vernal Equinox events were generally antique sacrificial performances to the heavens. This year's Vernal Equinox has incorporated more green landscaping activities, promoting traditional Chinese culture and intangible cultural heritage, attracting a large number of residents and tourists to participate.
Ritan Park, in ancient times, was the place where emperors worshipped the sun god on the day of the Vernal Equinox. Historical records show that during the Ming dynasty's Longqing and Chongzhen reigns, and the Qing dynasty's Qianlong, Jiaqing, and Daoguang reigns, emperors personally offered sacrifices at Ritan. The Chaoyang Garden Festival and Vernal Equinox Cultural Festival at Ritan Park will continue until the end of March. Ritan Park has no admission fee and is located near Jianguomen.
The park is suitable for exercise. There are also some monuments left. Today, there is an ancient tree from 1100 years. The ancient tree is located at the west gate of Tanjuan and has now been added. This ancient tree is probably from the five generations and ten kingdoms.
The Ritan is the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing generations sacrificed the god of the Ming (that is, the sun), and the god of the Ming on the equinox. The Temple of the Sun and the Temple of Heaven, the Temple of the Earth, the Temple of the Moon and the Temple of the Society are listed as five monuments in Beijing, and it is also one of the nine temples in Beijing. There is a Temple of the Sun Park outside the Temple of the Sun. In 1951, the Beijing Municipal People's Government decided to renovate the Ritan Temple and expand the Ritan Park by the Ritan Temple. Ritan Park is located on the north side of East Chang'an Street, North Ritan Road, Chaoyang District. Among the many well-known parks in Beijing, Ritan Park may not be a well-known park, but in terms of the history, layout and scenery of the park, it is definitely not inferior to the existence of other well-known parks. The temple was originally a place for the emperors of the Ming Dynasty to sacrifice the "sun" of the god of the Ming Dynasty. Later, the temple was expanded and opened as a park, and the original ancient buildings in the park were preserved. Visiting the park, through these ancient buildings, you can feel the heavy sense of history. The towering ancient trees can be seen everywhere in the park, and the summer makes tourists feel a touch of coolness in the hot sun afternoon. The ancient trees create a large area of shade in the garden, which has become a good choice for tourists to enjoy the cool. It is really "the former planted trees and the latter enjoy the cool. In autumn, red walls, green trees, golden branches, various flowers, yellow fallen leaves will dress the park colorfully. Although the park is not big, ancient trees, lotus ponds, rockery, small bridges, pavilions fall among them, forming different scenic areas. Facing the south gate of the park is a mural of the Sacrifice. The mural is the theme of the Sacrifice. The center is the sun god. There are flying sky. There are emperors, princes, and princes. The scene of the people's sacrifice; there are "post-glare days" and "the father chases the sun" on both sides. From this, it can also be seen that the background of the original sacrifice in Ritan Park is used for sacrifice.
