What people are saying:

When Ming was an ancestor, built in this area ten kings' Fu, then changed to the ten kings' Fu or the ten kings' Fu Street. After the Ming Dynasty fell, the kings' Fu was also abandoned. Later, only eight kings' Fu in the street, people called it the kings' Fu Street. During the Qing Dynasty, the city began to flourish, and there were many vendors and shops along the street, and there was a "official hall", which became a famous city area. In 1915, when the "Kitakyushu detailed map" was drawn by the Ministry of home affairs of the kitakkyo government, it was divided into three sections: the north street was called Wangfu Daichi, the middle section was called hachijoso, and the south section was called Wangfu Daichi because there was a sweet water well (the well was located on the west side of the street, and it is now called Daisui Hutong). Later, the whole street was called Wangfujing.

Additional Information

Wangfujing is located in on the eastern side of the Forbidden City. It refers not only to Wangfujing Street but the whole area surrounding Wangfujing Street including many large-scale shopping centers such as Oriental Plaza, APM, Intime, and the Beijing Department Store. This is the home of hundred-year-old famous Beijing brands such as Refosian, Neiliansheng and Shengxifu. There is hardly reason to wonder why this has been a popular Beijing shopping destination for such a long time. The area also has a Snack Street with food from all over China and historical buildings, such as the Wangfujing Church. For shopping, eating and spending time with friends, this is the one of the most popular places in Beijing.
