Mount Tampa

Tampa is a forest mountain in the eastern part of the city. In the 1950s, when Brasov was named Orasul Stalin (Stalin City), trees were removed so that Stalin's name appeared on the hillside facing the old town. Since then, the forest has re-grown and the hillside has become a nature reserve. A few trails to the top (940m) take about an hour. You may see a variety of wild flowers, birds or small mammals on the way. The cable car allows you to easily reach the top from the city center; From the cable car station above to the back of the Brasov sign, 400m to the Rock Peak (955m), with the best view of the town. Trails are accessible at any time, no admission fees. The cable car is open from 9:30am to 4pm (closed on Monday) and round-trip fare is 16 Ley.
