What people are saying:

The opposite side is the Parliament building in Hungary. It is well lit and reflected in the river, and when you come near, the exquisite architecture is truly breathtaking! And it is very imposing! Well worth a visit.

Additional Information

A brutal siege led to the collapse of the Matthias Church in 1686, when cannonfire took out the church’s walls and revealed an old Madonna statue. According to the story, the sculpture appeared before the Muslims, lowering their morale and leading to the surrender of the city to the Holy League. Visiting tourists, however, have little to fret, as the Romanesque-style church was restored and rebuilt several times over. The church, located in the heart of Budapest’s Buda Castle District, is the seventh largest church of the medieval Hungarian Kingdom.
