Photos of Palacio Barolo

This is one of the most eye-catching buildings in the Congressional District, even though it is only a 22-story concrete building. The building was designed by Italian architect Mario Palanti and invested in by then-fabric tycoon Luis Barolo. Completed in 1923, it was the tallest building in Buenos Aires at the time. The unique design of the building was inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy. The building is 100 meters high, and each meter represents a chapter of the Divine Comedy; the building has 22 floors, each floor represents a passage, divided into purgatory and heaven. The top floor is a lighthouse with 360-degree views of the entire city.
