Atherton is located about 80 kilometers southwest of Cairns. It is a larger town on the Atherton Plateau, from which you can go to various attractions on the plateau, so the town is equivalent to a transfer station and a supply station. 1. Town There is a small town called Atherton at the intersection of National Highway 1 and KennedyHwy Road in northern Queensland, surrounded by the well-known Atherton Highlands. As of 2006, 7000 people lived in Atherton. As early as the late 19th century, a large number of gold and tin mines were discovered in the area around Cairns, which led to a large influx of Europeans, and also attracted many Chinese to migrate to North Queensland from China or other parts of Australia. There are also some attractions in the town, such as the ruins of Chinatown built by the Chinese during the gold rush in the late 19th century and the Houwang Temple. The Crystal Caves (The Crystal Caves), which displays various minerals, is a museum and it is also worth visiting. Don't miss the amethyst ore that is taller than a person. 2. The land here is fertile, the climate is pleasant, and it is famous for its natural beauty. On the way from Cairns to Atherton Plateau, you can enjoy the endless pastures, rolling hills, manicured mango farms, quaint and traditional centuries-old towns, and the looming Seven Sisters (formed by volcanic piles) , like an idyllic poem, it will give you a beautiful and cool feeling; and its tranquil volcanic lake, magnificent big fig tree, and waterfalls of different styles will leave a deep impression on you.
