Sunken Cemetery Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Sunken Cemetery of Camiguin Island
Sunken Cemetery is a place is widely known for being the resting place of the thousand people who has lost their lives in the past. The giant cross in the middle of the blue sea is the mark that will let every visitor know that there was once a city with a lot of people and a culture that sunk due to an unfortunate accident.
Aside from the sightseeing, most guests enjoy a short dive under the cemetery where guests can see different coral reefs and aquatic animals under the water. Some professional divers can even find some of the remains of the old gravestones that now serves as habitat to the marine life underwater.#passionpassport
One of the most prominent destinations on the island, just off the coast of Cagayan de Oro, would be the sunset-lit Sunken Cemetery in Catarman, a portion of the province's community where one of the first settlers of Camiguin lived and have been buried alive after Mt. Vulcan or Daang Bulkan erupted. The underwater tombstones, some still have identifiable features that are now rare from the uniform burial lots and tombs, extend to at least half a hectare from an old church similarly buried by Mt. Vulcan's lava.

Tuasan Falls Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Tuasan Falls isn’t the tallest waterfalls on the island of Camiguin in the Philippines but even so, I was impressed by its powerful water flow. Surprisingly, we came across Tuasan by chance while we were cruising along the highlands of Camiguin.
Tuasan Falls is located in the middle of the mountains. And just a few steps away from the parking area. Basically, this fall can be easily accessed by anyone. It was very beautiful and the water is so refreshing. if you come across to this island better visit this wonder.

The most popular waterfall in the island, is just a few minutes away from the cold springs. Tucked in the jungle and accessible via a short hike since the public transportation can only take you so far, this quiet and unspoiled waterfall is definitely a must visit for nature lovers.

Old Spanish Church Ruins Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Sometimes called the Old Church Ruins, the Guiob Church Ruins or locally known as Ruins of Old Spanish Church was what was left from the old church of the island’s Spanish era capital called Cotta Bato. It was constructed in the 16th century but it met its destruction a century later. On May 13, 1871, the capital’s peace was rattled by an intense trembling of the ground brought about by the rumbling of a nearby volcano, Mt. Vulcan. The earthquake shook the town mercilessly until houses and other structures were down to rubble. But that wasn’t the end of it. That evening, Mt. Vulcan unleashed its most devastating power when it erupted and destroyed what was left of the town.

Memories of the Old Church
when you will visit the island of Camiguin, this will surely be one of the attractions you won't dare to miss.
the OLD CHURCH RUINS is right along the road of Catarman, Camiguin.
All you can see are the old brick walls from 18th century. Why it was ruined? it is because of a huge earthquake that hit the whole island of Camiguin that sunk the cemetary too which you will see on my different post. ☺️ You would not imagine the rage of the earthquake and how the people of Camiguin rose and moved on from this tragedy. There was never a hint on the faces of the people of Camiguin that a tragedy did happen. All you can see are the people of resilience and hospitality. ❤️
This well preserved structure is built in 1860. The cuartel is supposed to be home/barracks intended for the Spanish soldiers, more popularly known locally as guardia civil, who were guarding the shores of Oslob during the colonial era. #wintergetaway
