Grand Constantia Wine Estate is the oldest wine estate in South Africa, located in the central area of the Constantia Valley in the southern peninsula of Cape Town, with a history of more than 300 years. It is backed by the southern foot of Table Mountain and faces False Bay, with abundant sunshine and abundant rainfall, and has a unique geographical location and climatic conditions. In 1685, the first Dutch governor of Cape Town, Simon van der Stel, chose the site to build a garden and named it Constantia, and began to produce red wine in 1705. Favored by Napoleon, King Louis Philippe, etc. After Fan's death in 1712, the manor changed hands several times and was divided into several pieces. Among them, the present Grand Constance Manor is more prosperous, and the wines produced are world-renowned and favored by Napoleon, King Louis-Philippe, etc. The winery was once decayed by pests and diseases. There are historical sites such as the Cloete Celler, which was built in 1791, and the renovated residence of Governor Vandersdale at the end of the 18th century. Not only can you enjoy the fascinating pastoral scenery and 17th-century Dutch manor buildings here, you can also visit wine cellars and wine tasting, and appreciate the Western wine culture.
