If you want to know Philippine history, you must visit Mactan Shrine in Lapu-Lapu. You will be able to see the monument of the Filipinos hero called Lapu-Lapu. The place is very peaceful and nice. It is located near by the sea. Tourists can buy different souveniers in the place. There is no entrance fee. It is 10-15 minute walk from the main road of Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City. You can ask a few locals about the place, they are hospitable. It is known as “Mactan Shrine” by the local people. If you are not comfortable to walk, you can get a taxi (it cost 8RMB or 50 Php)or hop on a public jeepney which goes to PUNTA ENGANO (it cost around 1RMB or 8 PhP).When you walk from the main road of Mactan to Mactan Shrine, you will be able to pass by a few local restaurants (BBQ or eatery). It is safe to walk around the area. When you get tired after visiting the monument , take a walk for 15 minutes back to the main road and walk to west for 3-5 minutes , you can find Mactan Alfresco and next to it is Mactan Newtown buildings. It is better to go there at around 4PM when it is not very hot and stay until it gets dark. The place looks nicer during the evening.
this place is a museum where you can find lots of interesting artifacts and other treasures of cebu
