The castle stands on the seaside of Cesme. The tall city walls are easy to see. It is also the best and most prominent Islamic and Byzantine architecture in Cesme. It was a fortress used to defend against pirate attacks on the coast, and a witness to the famous Cesme naval battle between the Ottoman Empire and Tsarist Russia. Climbing to the highest point of the castle, the beautiful scenery here exceeds expectations. It overlooks the Aegean Sea and enjoys the blowing of the sea breeze. There are not many tourists, so you can almost enjoy the beautiful scenery alone.
Cesme Castle is an iconic attraction in the town, and it is also a commanding height. There is a museum in the castle that displays cultural relics from various periods in Cesme. It is not too high for ten minutes to ascend the castle. Some of the stairs and steps are steep and some are broken. Looking down on the entire town and bay from the castle, the scenery is still good.
You can buy a museum pass, which is more favorable. The following itinerary is basically included in the fare and requires 210 lire, but at the beginning we didn’t buy it because we didn’t know the included attractions. We can decide according to our own situation. The highest point of the castle has better viewing effects. The tour time is about 30 minutes.
If it’s not far, it’s best to walk, or if the car is parked on the main road, the roads near the castle are relatively small, it is not convenient to park by car, the ticket is 8 lire, you can see the panoramic view of Cesme, which is very worth the fare! Opposite is the coastal restaurant, ice cream 2 lire, mineral water 1 lire, watching the sea and drinking coffee, very comfortable.
It is definitely not a free attraction, it seems to be 12 lire, but here we started to buy the 18-day Turkish museum pass for 315 lire. The castle is located in the small town of Cesme and is well restored. You can watch the sunset and overlook the Cesme beach. All open to tourists.
