The Plaza de Mayo is a prestigious plaza in Buenos Aires, regarded by the Argentines as the nerve center of the Republic. There is a May Tower in the center of plaza square to commemorate the May Revolution in Argentina. The pink building behind the square is the Presidential Palace of Argentina.

Historical Architecture
Casa Rosada, also known as the Presidential Palace, is located on the east side of the Plaza de Mayo and is a Spanish-style rose-colored building. In 1873, President Sarmiento painted the presidential palace pink, because red was the color of the federalist at that time, white was the color of its opposition, and the two colors became pink together, also symbolizing the unity of political factions.

Cemetery
A cemetery for the stars, this graveyard is the final resting place for some of Argentina's most notorious and beloved citizens, including Raúl Alfonsín, Eva Perón, and a number of presidents. First built around a convent and church, the cemetery became part of a wealthy neighborhood after upper-class Argentinians fled to Recoleta during the 1870s yellow fever epidemic. Today, the cemetery contains elaborate mausoleums, statues and tombs - most in good shape, although a few have succumbed to the ravages of time. Tree-lined walkways allow visitors to stroll leisurely through the area.
