Udon Thani is such a beautiful province in Thailand. I had my solo backpacking there. I drove motorbike for about 50kms from town proper to visit Talay Bua Deang (Red Lotus Lake). Only limited season you can visit and see this heaven. Lake is covered by red/pink lotus. Must visit here for sunrise. Flowers will open slowly to welcome sunlight. Largest city from this lake is Udon Thani, but not many place to visit. You may need to stay just one night only. I stayed Charoen Hotel at city center. Good point, free airport pickup and free airport drop upon request. Hotel cost is only 30-40 USD per night.

This is actually not a sea, this is a big lake located at the South-East of Udon Thani, at Tambon Chang Wae, Chang Haeo, Khumpawapi District. I took an hour to reach there from Udon Thani City. We paid 150 Thai Bath per person to take a small boat sailed into the lake to see the beautiful blossom Red Lotus, it is red every way, very big, is the reason why the local people called it Red Lotus Sea.
