I was very glad to have gone. I enjoyed the statues of the founding members of medicine which started with the real father of med ancient Architect Egyptian Imhotep... they have a room dedicated to surgical nursing professionals, a large exhibit on Xray, and many exhibits of antique surgical procedure instruments and amputation saws. The art through out the grey stone 19th century mansion, is breathtaking.

Great museum on surgical history, including deconstructed body systems, surgical history, death masks, and old surgical instruments. Not for the weak hearted!
There is a real body spliced into 1 inch pieces on the top floor of this building - pretty crazy! It's free to visit on Tuesdays, so definitely stop in then. Pretty neat spot to check out. :)
Gift store has big selection of very very cool dna models. They also have exhibits about the evolution/history of surgical procedures. Offbeat and fun...
This Surgery Museum did not try to become the Field Museum, but it does lack a certain quality to make the museum more fascinating. This lack of things is the level of interactivity. Most museums are for people to stand and watch and read. The information read by these visitors is indeed fascinating, but if there are more ways to attract visitors, it may be more impressive. Unless you work in the medical field, I will not list this on your tourist attractions; however, if you are a Chicago looking for new things to learn, this museum is worth a try.
