Unless you visit Montrose Beach, you won't believe there is such a spectacular sandy beach in the American Midwest. In fact, Montrose Beach is not close to the sea. It is actually a 26-mile (42-kilometer) stretch of lakeside sand on Lake Michigan. The beach is located in Chicago's Lincoln Park, just a stone's throw from the city center. Come here and you'll see an amazing variety of wildlife, including hordes of snow owls and North American purple swallows. In addition to watching wild waterfowl, Montrose Beach is a great place for people to fly kites and surf.
