San Diego Museum of Natural History San Diego (San Diego Natural History Museum) "Learn about San Diego's history, starting with dinosaurs and big lizards" explores Southern California's natural history - from the past to the present - at the San Diego Museum of Natural History. From rattlesnakes and carnivorous beetles to dinosaurs and fossils to the pendulums proving the earth is spinning, everyone has their own hobby. Visitors will be impressed by the unique interactive exhibition that spans five floors. The museum features a huge screen theater, showing films of 2D and 3D every day, as well as rotating exhibitions, bringing nature to life. The museum is divided into four floors, the first floor is the ticket office and animal specimens, the second floor is a variety of biofossils, the third floor is a biological skeleton, and the fourth floor is related photography. The entire museum combines science and environmental protection, with an extremely rich storage capacity and easy to understand explanations. Address:1788 El Prado, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA

Hillcrest is alive with stores, cafes, coffee shops, bars and people, both day and night. The street can be filled with traffic, especially at night, but the vibe is laid back yet vibrant at all times.

It's a small place with lots of fire hats, coats, old newspaper clippings on the walls, etc. Attracting the attraction is a collection of fire engines (steam) and fire engines (mainly Seagraves). Hooked ladders are a copy of the 1950s children's book. You can be very close to the vehicle to see all the valves and controls. And $3.00 great value offer

Cabrillo tide pools are fun to visit. We looked at a tide chart, and found out that on the day we were going to visit that the low tide was at 2:00pm. We had seen a very long line into the park a couple of years ago, so we decided to get there about 2 hours before the lowest tide. It was a great decision- as there was no line to enter the park and we could easily park near the tide pools! (I see that parking could be extremely difficult during low tide.) The pools were fun to walk around and explore. We could easily find hundreds of little hermit crabs and a few anemone. I was a bit disappointed that we only saw two starfish, and not much else. The volunteers were wonderful and knowledgeable! They were the ones that found the two star fish we did see - a beautiful Knobby Star and a very rare Soft Star. Definitely the highlight of the stop!

Botanical Building and Lily Pond One of the most prestigious attractions in Balboa Park is the tropical plant greenhouse and the lotus pond (Botanical Building and Lily Pond). This antique botanical garden greenhouse with a strong sense of history is one of four permanent buildings at the 1915 Panama-California Expo. The greenhouse is a slat structure, 2,500 feet long, 75 feet wide and 60 feet high. It is still one of the largest slat structures in the world. The greenhouse contains more than 2,100 permanent plants and seasonal colour displays including sioux, ferns, orchids, pineapples, palm trees, and various seasonal flowers. The greenhouse is lush and leafy, and the orchids are in full bloom. The sun shines through the wood bars into the greenhouse, and the light and shadow of the wood bars are reflected in each other, which is a bit mysterious and wonderful. Opening hours: Friday to Wednesday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Thursday and city holidays closed. Free.

We had a guided tour of the Marston house with one of the preservationists the volunteers at the site. Very interesting history. Great visit with two minor caveats 1, tour guide got a little preachy and opinionated about preservation issues. That can happen. Also 2 grounds and gardens could use some work.

Interesting and beautiful hidden collection. If you are not lucky enough to find an official guide and map (to be honest it doesn’t help much), you’ll wander around campus and see nothing. The artwork is embedded in the sidewalk (snake-shaped path) and mounted on windows that look like advertisements (read/write/think/dream), or visible only at night (para and virtue). Be prepared to search, really search for artworks (even with maps), and hopefully you will find the work that makes the “art hide and seek” game worthwhile: Bears, fallen stars and standing... (actually we never found) standing, but it looks so amazing in the book, I sincerely hope you will find it by chance!) Best wishes.

I came here many years ago to ride this thing, but it was not running, and kind of run down. Now, it has been restored and its beautiful! I might also add that it is now equipped with all of the modern safety devices. This is your old style coaster, built of wood, fast and rough! I have ridden a lot of roller coasters, but this one actually scared me a bit. After you get off, you can wander around and look at the rest of this old style amusement park. There are other rides, carnival games, and lots of junk food. Admission to the park is free, as is the limited parking. There is also street parking close by.

We went to San Diego from Los Angeles and I always wanted to absorb cultural sites, so we decided to go to Uber. In Los Angeles, we didn’t even have anywhere near this site, so we went to San Diego. This work is underway and is likely to become a hub for Raza culture and self-awareness.
