As a maritime power, the Maritime Museum in Amsterdam is still worth visiting. The museum building on the bank of the canal is relatively large, and the exhibits are also rich. It is still very attractive for tourists who like history and maritime affairs.
The Maritime Museum is a very famous museum in Amsterdam, it is a large area around the Museum Square and is well worth a visit for friends who like history and are interested in sailing, after all the Netherlands can be a world famous sailing power
The National Maritime Museum of the Netherlands is an attraction found on Google Maps. It is not far from the Viking cruise ship terminal. It seems that you have to go around a big circle on the map. In fact, you can take a small road to the past, which is much closer. This museum is completely built on water. The entrance fee is quite expensive, 16.5 Euros. The Dutch love money too much. However, the ticket already includes a Chinese tour. There are many ship models in the museum, and you can see its detailed information by pointing the mobile screen at a certain ship. The most fun is a simulated antique ship, you can go in and look around. There is also the honor ship of the Queen of Holland, golden and very gorgeous.
Good fun! We really enjoyed acting like big kids and exploring the reconstructed ship. It's reconstructed with kids in mind to include adventure obstacle courses, interactive areas and tiny cabins and walkways to crawl through. We had fun but calmed down after a security guard shouted at us...
The Maritime Museum is located along the IJ river waterfront in a building that dates back to the mid-1600s. The building itself used to be a store house for the Admiralty of Amsterdam, during a time in which this city was at the hub of commerce, with the largest port in the world. This museum is a must-see for those who are truly interested in the history of the city, and the country, that was built on water. The main building has several exhibits, each with a particular focus (such as old maps and navigational instruments), and many of which cater specifically to children. Your entrance ticket also gets you aboard “the Amsterdam”, an exact replica of a Dutch East India Company ship, which was lost in its maiden voyage.
A top museum!
