Mataking Island is actually made of two smaller islands, Pulau Mataking and Pulau Mataking Kechil. At low tide, they are connected by a strip of white sand beach. The larger of the two islands has many lovely resorts. The architectural style is primarily traditional Malaysian designs. This quiet island is ideal for a leisurely vacation. Mataking's waters are rich in marine resources. The east coast slopes off into hundreds of meters of coral reef, the west is a wall of coral, all sorts of brightly colored and fast-swimming fish, large and small, can be seen here.
