    Must see!

This is the must see place if you are interested in Medici family. Of course, the highlight was the Magi chapel. There was only 4 more people with us in the chapel. All experience was quite relaxed, n...

    Gorgeous, gorgeous chapel

The palace is another dark, brooding, brutal, dreary pile in rusticated stone built by the Medici bankers but like a dirty walnut lying in a ditch it hides the most delightful kernel: the chapel of th...

    Visit spoiled by time restriction

Appreciate that Covid-19 has affected all our lives but to restrict visitors to 5 minutes to admire Gozzoli's Procession of the Magi seemed utterly unreasonable - particularly as we had happily booked...

Additional Information

Introduction

Palazzo Medici Riccardi which was designed by Michelozzo di Bartolomeo is a prime example of Renaissance-style architecture. This mid-fifteenth century building is known for its masonry. While it was originally built for the head of the Medici banking family, the Marchesi Riccardi family later bought it and expanded the Palazzo during the seventeenth century. You can still find Baroque frescoes by Luca Giordano and various sculptures in the courtyard. By allowing only eight guests at a time, the Palazzo Medici Riccardi provides a cozy atmosphere to enjoy Renaissance masterpieces.
