I stayed here in April 2013 and adored it. Apparently it's the birthplace of jUlius Ceasar but if you're more interested in modern Italy, it has beautiful hidden restaurants and shops too. It's not as touristy as closer to piazza navona but it's still easily accessible to all some amazing sights in Rome, about 5 minutes walk to the collosseum and the forum. There's lots of rental apartments in this area too!. Gorgeous!

An incredible part of Rome, right in the center of it all though it feels off the beaten path. This urban neighborhood is littered with interesting street art as well as hip, casual bars, cafe, and shop.
If I could live anywhere in Rome, it would be in Monti. Hip restaurants, classic Italian boutiques, and a central location between the Colosseum, Centro Storico and the Trevi Fountain make it a must-see neighborhood. Small streets that aren't crowded at night lead to a piazza where young folk congregate with pizza slices and beers. My favorite gelateria (Fatamorgana) is here, as well as several bars that I love (Libreria Caffe' Bohemien, Casa Clementina). In my dreams and romanticized recollections of memories, it's Monti that I revisit.
In my opinion this is the best area of Rome: a mix of Vintage and trendy, from shops, restaurants and people. It is so relaxing taking a wlk here, doing some fine shopping and then having lunch somewhere. At night it s even better.
very caracteristic roman neighbour
