Panna Meena ka Kund

This is a fascinating stepwell, which we found quite interesting, since we had never seen a stepwell before. It is an example of the extraordinary ingenuity of Indian people, who thought of this innovative way to store & utilise water in the arid lands of Rajasthan. It is well worth a visit, just because it is so different and unusual an architectural form. What is truly remarkable is that it was once bustling with life, the place where women gathered to get water from for their daily needs.

This ladder well is not too far from Amber Fort. You can take a tuk-tuk, and you can walk from Amber Fort with good physical strength. Originally, the moon well was bigger and more famous, but it was a bit far away. I had to charter a car to go alone. I thought that it was the same anyway, and I chose a nearby visit. Although the scale of the ladder well is not large, it is still quite photogenic, and the photos look better than the scene. It's just a pity that I basically don't let it go down to take pictures now.

[Location] On the way to Amber Fort on the jeep, you will pass by. It belongs to the attraction of "buy one and get one free", but it is very special. [Tickets] are free. But you are not allowed to take pictures below the ground plane. You can sit on the platform at most. Sometimes the security is in a bad mood and the platform does not let you sit. It was originally designed to provide people with water for living in the surrounding villages, but it is now abandoned. The pavilion on the ground floor is a place for entertainment and dance. The pavilion on the four corners is a place for people to rest and chat. [Play] The geometric lines here are arranged unconventionally to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder. There is a Hindu temple next to it, also built in the 16th century, and the exterior walls are a bit dark. Cool mornings, there will be loonger black-faced monkeys, they are more well-behaved, not aggressive (but don't provoke), macques red-faced monkeys have aggressive.

From nearly 2000 step-wells in India, Rajasthan houses almost 100 of them. It is famous for its well-preserved stepwells, and one of them is the Panna Meena Ka Kund. The other names for Panna Meena ka Kund are Panna Mian Kund, Panna Meena Baori, and Panna Meena Bawri

It is small but beautiful, very characteristic Indian architecture, many ladders in perfect geometric arrangement, looks very visual impact. The well that used to take water has long been abandoned, but the bottom pool still has water, not dirty but not clean, occasionally a few fish swim, I don't know if it is the live water that leads to the groundwater vein. Very suitable place to take pictures.

This ladder well is not too far from Amber Fort, we walked from Amber Fort, about ten minutes away, just follow the map navigation. The scale is not large, not as good as the moon well, but the moon well is dozens of kilometers away from Jaipur. Only chartered cars can go there. How can this be convenient, and now these wells are either surrounded by iron fences or have special people on duty. In short, they are not allowed to go down. Few people, take a good angle, photography is still more special.
