Santa Maria del Fiore

Florence is one of my absolute favorite cities. I took this picture at dawn in the wonderful Piazza del Duomo on a December morning.

When you come to Florence, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is a must-visit. The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Florence is a classic Renaissance building. The exterior is made of three colors of marble. It is beautiful and distinctive. It is very beautiful and solemn from any angle. The huge dome of the church is even more impressive. The interior is painted with a huge zenith painting, "The Last Judgment", and the beautiful relief on the bronze door of the Baptistry is praised by Michelangelo as "the gate of heaven."
