Peaceful and a new experience
It was such a nice experience. You can get an authentic experience walking into the dzong. Once you go inside the more sacred space, cameras are not allowed, but you are able to hear and see the monks...
When we visited some of the monks were sat outside and were having an English exam. We waited a while and went inside. I understand it's the oldest fortress in Bhutan.
Simtokha Dzong is the first fortress built in Bhutan. It was built in the 17th century and saw some action unlike other dzongs of the land. No photography allowed inside.
V beautiful well maintained monument being one of d oldest dzong oh bhutan.one can feel the calmness thanks to the holy atmosphere and serene nature around...worth a visit
One of the oldest Dzongs in Bhutan and of particular significance because of its association with Shabdrung the man who unified Bhutan. It is small and very personal.
