One of the most visited tourist sites in Bogota - El Museo de Oro - or, the Museum of Gold. Here, we witnessed the largest collection of gold artefacts (said to be around 34,000 pieces) that showcase everything from pottery and textile objects to jewellery and more - all highlighting the country’s indigenous culture / past. An interesting and informative place to visit for anyone in the city! 📍El Museo de Oro, Bogota, Colombia #leaveyourmark

Piedra Del Penol
El Peñol de Guatape is a famous rock formation near Medellin that locals and tourists alike love to visit. The rock itself is over 200m high, and you’ll have to climb up around 650 steps to reach the top! Even if a little tiring, the view is worth it - you’ll be able to see a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding area and it is simply beautiful. 📍 El Peñol de Guatape, Medellin, Colombia #leaveyourmark

FROM BEAN TO CUP ☕️.⠀ ⠀ Did you know that an average worker in a coffee farm can pick up to 100kg of ripe coffee cherries PER DAY?!⠀ ⠀ This is the staggering amount we learned is normally collected by individual pickers (by hand!) during the two picking seasons the Ocasa Coffee Plantation sees every year. We spent an afternoon exploring the sights, sounds and smells of the Ocasa Coffee Plantation to learn all about how our favourite cup o’ Joe is made. From planting the seed, to picking the ripe cherries and sorting the beans, we learned heaps about the process and admire the work that goes into producing coffee beans so much more!⠀ ⠀ 📍Ocasa Coffee Plantation, Salento, Quindio, Colombia⠀ #leaveyourmark

Pueblito Paisa
The cutest little replica town you ever did see.⠀ ⠀ Complete with a fountain, a cobblestone square and vibrant buildings filled with bright colours and beautiful flowers, Pueblito Paisa is a popular tourist attraction in Medellin. Everyone was crowded into the one square in the midst of renovations that were going on at the time of our visit, leaving for a less-than-desirable level of noise and lack of personal space. HOWEVER, Pueblito Paisa is locates on a high hill in the middle of the Aburrá Valley - Cerro Nutibara - and offers wonderful views of the sprawling city of Medellin. Swipe to take a look!⠀ ⠀ 📍Pueblito Paisa, Medellin, Colombia #leaveyourmark

As we walked through a now “reclaimed” area of Comuna 13, we saw how graffiti and rap changed the culture within this now popular section of the neighbourhood. We watched as a local dance troupe got together to show off their mad skills, ate ALL the snacks and admired the colourful murals that graced the walls of buildings as symbols and reminders of a hope for continued peace ✌🏻 ⠀ ⠀ 📍Comuna 13, Medellin, Colombia #leaveyourmark

There’s no better snack than patacones con queso!!⠀ ⠀ In Colombia, frying a patacone is like a work of art, it takes know-how to fry it to that crispy on the outside, soft on the inside perfection. Plus you’ve got to get the flavour right too.⠀ ⠀ Patacones are made from plantain that is first fried in oil until golden brown, then drained and flattened to form a patty before being fried again. You can have a range of toppings or accompaniments with a patacone - it all depends on where you’re eating it - but the usual street side version sees a block of light, fresh cheese topping the warm plantain “toast”. 📍Cartagena, Colombia #leaveyourmark

Medellín is the capital of Colombia’s mountainous Antioquia province. Nicknamed the “City of Eternal Spring” for its temperate weather, it hosts a famous annual Flower Festival. Modern metrocables link the city to surrounding barrios and offer views of the Aburrá Valley below. Sculptures by Fernando Botero decorate downtown's Botero Plaza, while the Museo de Antioquia displays more of the Colombian artist’s work. #holidayvacation#wintergetaway#staycation#tripinspired#happynewyear
