The Mosque–Cathedral of Córdoba (Spanish: Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba), officially known by its ecclesiastical name, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption (Spanish: Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Córdoba dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and located in the Spanish region of Andalusia.. Due to its status as a former Islamic mosque, it is also known as the Mezquita and as the Great Mosque of Córdoba (Spanish: Mezquita de Córdoba
The mosque structure is regarded as an important monument in the history of Islamic architecture and is considered by many scholars to have been highly influential on the subsequent "Moorish" architecture of the western Mediterranean regions of the Muslim world. Entered "Game of Thrones" 🇪🇸 Cordoba Mosque-Cathedral
🇪🇸Cordoba, standing alongside Granada and Seville, is one of the three shining pearls and world-renowned tourist destinations in the Andalusia region of southern Spain.
🎈Cordoba's reputation has spread far and wide, largely due to the preservation of the Great Mosque, a world cultural heritage site.
📣 The Great Mosque was first built in 786 and, through continuous expansion under Moorish rulers, became the most famous of over 300 mosques in Cordoba.
🚩 After 1236, it took 260 years of construction to transform it into a cathedral. The Moorish style of Arabia and the Gothic and Renaissance styles of Spain blend together, creating the architectural masterpiece of Cordoba.
💎 The Great Mosque of Cordoba, located on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, covers an area of over 23,000 square meters with a building area of over 4,000 square meters. It is magnificent and grand.
💗In the early 16th century renovation project, one-third of the stone pillars and arches in the main hall were demolished, and the height of the arches was raised. A Renaissance-style cathedral was built in the center of the mosque (Figure 3 shows the panoramic view of the Grand Mosque, and the dark green spire is the arch of the cathedral).
👣 Strolling among them, towering domes, intricate ceilings, colorful murals, elegant platforms and chairs, sturdy staffs and swords, delicate sculptures... magnificent and luxurious, as if entering the world of the American drama "Game of Thrones" .

If the Siena Cathedral in Italy is one of the most special churches I have ever seen, then the Grand Mosque of Cordoba that I came today is also the most special mosque I have ever seen. A
1984 The Cordoba Mosque was selected as a World Heritage Site. It is the pilgrimage site after Mecca and Jerusalem. It has been converted back and forth between the Catholic Church and the mosque, so it has a unique culture. After the integration, the 18 rows of pillars are alternately lined by red bricks and dolomites. It is very stunning
In such a long history, the great mosque is more magnificent and the decoration is more refined; but the most special It is still the Grand Mosque of Cordoba, a building that combines Islamic mosques and Christian churches. In this building, there are places where Islam believers worship God, and the middle part is where Christian believers pray for God. In addition to the separate time periods of worship, they are co-existing in a building. The mosque that is so mixed is rare in the world and can be said to be the most unique existence in the world.

A place of tranquility in the city!
This really is definitely worth a visit. Entrance cost December 2022 was €5. I'd recommend it in the late afternoon, when it's less crowded and you'll catch the setting sun's rays striking the fortress to give the stone a wonderful soft, warm glow. When you first enter go straight up to the very top of the tower which will give you a sweeping view over the whole layout of the fortress. You may even get to see the horses practicing in the nearby equestrian centre!👍

Calleja de las Flores Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Calleja de las Flores in Cordoba - The Jewish Quarter
Cordoba, for Chinese tourists, is far less known than Madrid, Barcelona, and Seville. Yet, this old city was once very glorious. In 975 AD, Cordoba was the world's leading advanced and civilized Islamic kingdom, with a beautiful city, prosperous economy, numerous libraries and universities, and many artists and philosophers lived here, and many ancient monuments are still preserved to this day.
The Mesquite Mosque of Cordoba is a miracle of architectural history, one of the mosques in the world where Mass can be held. The mosque, built in 785, mixes various architectural styles, with beautiful horseshoe arches, the main door is of the 14th-century Mudejar style, and the entrance to the courtyard is an orange grove. At the center is a Christian cathedral, with delicate arches and a gorgeously decorated dome from over a thousand years ago still preserved today, and many mosaic patterns add a touch of Byzantine church flavor.
Mosque entrance fee: 13 euros per person, it is best to buy tickets online in advance, there are time slot restrictions, and there are a lot of people queuing on-site.
What I don't understand the most is that the Jews were once the most vibrant and outstanding citizens of Cordoba during the Muslim rule. They lived near the mosque, in a small area with narrow streets, white walls decorated with iron window grilles, covered with hanging baskets and flower pots, currently dominated by 'Christmas red' in winter. It is said that in May when the flowers are in full bloom, this district is decorated with flowers, hence the area is known as 'Calleja de las Flores'. It is suitable for walking and shopping, with many characteristic shops and restaurants, where you can stroll and rest. It is said that a 14th-century synagogue is still preserved, the only one in the Andalusia region. I didn't have the chance to go due to time constraints, but it can be found on Google Map.
The attractions in Cordoba are very concentrated, and it is entirely possible to walk around with general physical strength. One day is quite tight, just the Roman bridge and the fortress at the end of the bridge across the Guadalquivir River are enough to keep you there for an evening, as the sun sets, the charm of the ancient Roman bridge fully unfolds.
Calleja de las Flores
Hundred Flowers Lane is located next to the mosque and can be found in 2-3 minutes. It is a typical white alley in Cordoba
because it is full of flowers and plants in the winding and narrow alleys. The flower is full of fragrance, so the April Garden Festival named Baihua Alley
Crdoba is famous all over the world. The courtyard design and flower conservation are very famous
, therefore Baihuaxiang should be the most beautiful in April and May. I am not very beautiful in this winter. I don't think it is very beautiful. The color of the flowers is not too much. There is no imaginative flower garden. There is a little disappointment
but there are many small shops around. If you buy leather goods, you can find a lot. Good handmade leather bag
good at sunset is the best time to see the ancient Roman bridge
Out of the Great Mosque is a particularly beautiful Baihua Lane in Cordoba, but unfortunately there is almost no flower in winter. In fact, not only in the alleys of the old towns of Cordoba, Spain, but also in the spring, the flowers bloom in full bloom.
The next step is the ancient Roman bridge of Crdoba. It is a bit bland during the day, and the evening lights will be especially beautiful. The most amazing surprise in Cordoba is the weekend market. In fact, I don't quite understand whether this is a fixed market in Crdoba on weekends or if we are lucky enough to meet the big days in Cordoba.
Roman Bridge of Córdoba Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Nice Old Bridge
It is located at Av. del Alcazar, s/n 14003 Cordoba, 2 to 3 minutes walk from the Great Mosque.
It was built in the early 1st century BC across the Guadalquivir river, though it has been reconstructed at various times since. It is also known locally as the old bridge for two thousand years, until the construction of San Rafael in the mid-twentieth century, it was the city's only bridge across the river.
The Calahorra tower is a fortified gate standing on the left bank of the river to protect the Roman Bridge. It consisted of an arched gate between two. A third tower was added to the existing one, in the shape of two cylinders connecting them.
In May 2004, the bridge was pedestrianised after the construction of Miraflores Bridge. As part of the historic site, it was declared as an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. Walking along the bridge, admiring the breathtaking surroundings, is a relaxing thing.
The ancient Roman bridge Puente Romano de Crdoba
is near six o'clock. The sunset arrives and walks to the ancient Roman bridge. Fortunately, it is not far away. The ancient Roman bridge still in use is still built in the 1st century, in the 13th century. In the 19th century, there were different degrees of construction. The bridge was built with megaliths. There are 16 bridge holes
standing at the southern end of the bridge. The mosques on the other side and the quaint bridges are shining. The hh/dusk is gradually yellowing. Days, people watch the sunset on the bridge, the bridge is in the horizon
of course the ancient Roman bridge this location, everyone has heard a lot
"The Game of Thrones" in the long bridge of Valentis Long Bridge Of Volantis, HBO is said to have used 4 seats + drones when shooting, pulling a few epic wide angles to make the bridge look longer
The Roman Bridge was first built in the Roman era and expanded to the present size in the Moorish era. The bridge is built with boulder and has 16 bridge holes. The bridge deck is straight and there are semi-circular platforms on both sides of the bridge. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery on both sides. Standing at the southern end of the bridge, the mosque on the other side and the quaint bridge are shining. Today's weather is also quite a face, not cold or hot, blue sky and white clouds make people really feel good! No wonder Spain has so many romantic masters.

Come to Crdoba, Spain in the Charity City Cordova
5 month garden festival! Here you can feel the charm of this small flower city. In addition to the famous Baihua Lane, Crdoba also has two large IPs, Alcazar Castle and Grand Mosque. Alcazar Castle is the palace and fortress of Alfonso X in the 13th century, surrounded by high walls and towers that are indestructible. The castle building is divided into three floors, the upper level is the royal palace, the middle is the outbuilding and the small mosque, and the lower level is the garden. Ascend the narrow spiral staircase of the tower to the roof terrace, where you can see the beautiful gardens under the castle and the ancient Roman bridge. The garden is very beautiful, no wonder it is known as one of the most beautiful castles in Andalusia. Although it is not comparable to the gardens of the Royal Palace of Seville and the Summer Palace, it can be regarded as a unique style. Every year at the Garden Festival in May, the citizens of Crdoba will open their own courtyards for everyone to appreciate. The Grand Mosque and the Cathedral of Seville have the same purpose. The Great Mosque was occupied by Muslims in Crdoba and was converted into half of the Catholic Church of the Visigoths at that time. Then the Christians regained their lost ground and rebuilt the mosque.
Spain travels to Crdoba | You use the architectural writing history
Cordoba to attract me is this Moorish, Spanish mosque, and most importantly, the inside of the mosque is a church. Exclusion and oppression in the essence of religion are exquisite and exquisite here. You overthrew my tower. After a few hundred years, I demolished your dome. I will call back after a few hundred years, but they exist together here. But surrounded by more than a thousand horseshoe arches, who knows whether it is pride or tragedy.
It's small but definitely worth it, white roof blue roof, alleys with flower walls, ancient Roman bridges, Jewish ruins, you have countless reasons to come and sit down for a cup of Arabian mint tea Try a Moroccan Taji pot stewed lamb.
The other end of the Roman bridge in Cordoba is packed with market vendors and parade floats. The dolls and various clowns dressed in traditional costumes are smashing and drumming at the market. In addition to the lively float show, there are a variety of Spanish local food, snacks, cheese and candy collections. Looking at a long list of sausages and large plates of Spanish paella, it is absolutely mouth watering. In addition to food, you can also buy traditional Spanish craftsmen and a variety of local crafts.
