El Coco, Guanacaste is one of the most popular beaches in Costa Rica. Nothing like having a cold drink while you enjoy the view, walk over the sand and get inside that refreshing blue waters. By looking at the ocean, feeling the warm salty wind in your face, you will see how the time stops just to the sound of the waves.
This beach is internationally recognized for diving and surfing. Taking a boat ride to surrounding islets it’s a must. Many tours are available daily for different adventures, depending on your mood. You can also enjoy a beer watching the amazing sunset, while you have some chicharrones (fried pork) or a wonderful steak casado. Don’t forget to add ceviche to whatever meal you’re having, or just with a nice cold drink. It’s extremely important to keep hydrating your body (water & sunscreen) because of the dry weather.
Most of Costa Rica’s beaches hold the Ecologic Blue Flag award to demonstrate their commitment with conservation and green community lifestyle, and Playas del Coco is not the exception. Tourists are requested to follow all recycling and clean behavior to minimize impact in local environment.
There are plenty hotels, restaurants and shops in the area, varies from simple to very fancy locals, all of them with a great view and surrounded by nature. You can take a bus directly from San José downtown to Playas del Coco, ride can take six hours. Libera airport is an hour distance.

Monteverde is worldly known for its amazing cloud forest and biological reserves. Located 3 hours from San Jose, this small town is one of the best locations to visit for ecotourism. Perfect for outdoor activities, bird watching, hiking, sightseeing, and some indoor museums/gardens also focused to promote conservation.
Now, imagine crossing over those gorgeous cloud forests in zip lines. Coming to Costa Rica, or visiting Monteverde without experiencing a canopy tour is a waste. This is an amazing family experience! Should I say, this moment I shared with my sister and my mom was definitely one of the best in life.
This particular canopy takes about 2:30 hours, some zip lines are short, one is very long (and scary high!), and changes your life (adrenaline rush). Specially, the Tarzan swing at the end.

Costa Rica offers a dizzying suite of outdoor adventures in every shape and size – from the squeal-inducing rush of a canopy zipline to a sun-dazed afternoon at the beach. National parks allow visitors to glimpse life in both rainforest and cloud forest, simmering volcanoes offer otherworldly vistas, and reliable surf breaks are suited to beginners and experts alike. Such wildlife abounds in Costa Rica as to seem almost cartoonish: keel-billed toucans ogle you from treetops and scarlet macaws raucously announce their flight plans. Blue morpho butterflies flit amid orchid-festooned trees, while colorful tropical fish, sharks, rays, dolphins and whales thrive offshore – all as if in a conservationist’s dream.
Centering yourself on a surfboard or yoga mat, descending into bat-filled caves or ascending misty volcanic peaks, hiking, biking or ziplining – your only limit is your return date.
Hidden deep into the rainforest is a luxury gem that should be experienced by anyone who's in need of a mental detox. @thespringscostarica has simply blown me away! They offer exceptional service and unparralled views of the Arenal volcano. I mean, as soon as you walk into the lobby, the volcano is ALL up in your face. It gives the illusion as if you can almost touch it. It's stunning and mesmerizing beyond words!
The resort is home to 28 hot springs of varying temps and boasts a whole host of activities at their Club Rio. From river tubing, to horseback riding through a river, to rock climbing to wildlife sanctuaries; the property is very much self-contained.
I hope you enjoy this new series of posts as much as I enjoyed creating them. And if you're deciding on accommodation for Costa Rica, @thespringscostarica has my vote!
Playa Conchal in Costa Rica is where to go if you want both relaxation and to see wildlife. Staying near the beach will yield both views of the ocean and animals. Dont miss eating ripe fruit as well!
No trip to Costa Rica is complete without a visit to Manuel Antonio! Make your way to the national park and then to the ocean where you will be met with great views and warm water. The wildlife is plentiful and you might see a sloth!
