Paphos Archaeological Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Mar)
Explore UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Cyprus
The Archaeological Park of Kato Pafos (Paphos) is one of the most important archaeological sites in Cyprus. Since 1980, it has been included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is important to note that Paphos was the capital city of Cyprus between 2nd Century BC and 4th Century AD. The park is extremely huge and the entrance fee (€4.50) is truly worth the money and time!
My favourite site is the Villa House of Aion with its marvellous and most detailed mosaics on display, dating from 4th Century BC to the Middle Ages. There are also other Houses with even more mosaics for you to admire. Remember to enjoy the site at your own pace using a self-guided tour.

During your visit you will be able to see some of the more memorable houses and villas. These include:
House of Dionysus – this is a preserved ruins of a Roman villa dating to the 2nd, century known for colourful mosaics of Dionysus. It’s not clear whether only romans lived there and is believed wealthy native Greeks also could have inhabited the house.
The mosaic floor from the House of Aion is considered one of the most exceptional works of ancient Roman art, if not the only work of its kind.
House of Theseus – this exceptionally large villa was the residence of the Roman proconsul or governor, and was divided between rooms for official functions and those for private use.

Leonardo Plaza Cypria Maris Beach Hotel & Spa Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Mar)
Paphos, Cyprus and our resort
#resortstyle #allinclusive #paphos #cyprus #beachholiday
For this holiday we chose to stay in an all inclusive, beachfront hotel: Leonardo Plaza Cypria Maris Beach Hotel & Spa. The hotel itself was great, with good service and great amenities including pool/ beach bar, jacuzzi, spa, sunbeds and parasols at the beach and a number of restaurants to choose from. One thing to mention is that this is an adult only hotel – no kiddos allowed.

Let's go to the beach, beach ... Let's go to the beach ⛱️ 😎
Paphos beaches are rocky but we found a nice hotel with somewhat sandy area and entrance to the beach.

If you are going with kids, you might want to choose the adjacent sister hotel Leonardo Cypria Bay and benefit from the services both hotels offer.
Although not our style of hotel initially (as we do like more village style hotels) we still went for this as in Paphos these type of hotels are more prevalent.

Paphos Castle Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Mar)
Paphos Harbour Castle
Paphos was a capital of Cyprus and a very important port. So, Paphos Harbour Castle was built to protect the city and the harbor. But it has a long history. In 1222 year it was destroyed by earthquake. During next centuries it was rebuilt and destroyed several times because of different wars and changes of rules of the island. During those centuries it was a fortress and even a warehouse house for salt. But now it’s an archeological museum, and sometimes it hosts different cultural events.
It’s a nice place to walk around and learn more about the history of the island.
✅Working hours: from 8:30 am till 7:30 pm daily.
✅Entrance fee: 2,5 euro.

Paphos Castle

Paphos is famous for its rocky coastline with clear water and different natural bays filled with fish. They say nearby is where Aphrodite’s herself landed when she rose from the seas.
Paphos Castle Tourists can take a stroll in Paphos’ marina area culminating the 15 min walk at the castle area. Although not an impressive construction, it does offer some great all round photos.
You can also swim in the water, as you will see multiple steps so people can go down safely into the sea. Also, if you are lucky enough you can also see turtles. Yes, turtles!
Checkinaway (@checkinawayblog) Visit the old small ancient castle on the paphos harbour.
Kyrenia Port Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Mar)
Rany Kyrenia - Girne
Kyrenia Liman in a rainy day...
#kyrenia #girne #cyprus #rainy
Kyrenia in Northern Cyprus is one of the favorite Mediterranean resorts in Europe. Compared with many other Mediterranean islands, the price here is only one-half or even one-third of the other places. And comfortable, but not lost to other places - whether it is clear water, tempting food, or a long-established ancient city, here!
The most important thing is that it is free of charge! Free sign! Free sign! The important thing is said three times. Take your passport and transfer through Turkey (no direct flights in the country, no Turkish visa), you can walk and come here to enjoy the Mediterranean holiday!
