Chongqing Babysitter-level Travel Guide (Suitable for Beginners)
🙋🏻♀️I traveled to Chongqing in mid-January, with a travel duration of one week, this guide combines personal experience.
❖ DAY1: High-speed train arrival——Hongya Cave in the evening——Qiansimen Bridge
❖ DAY2: Hongya Cave Pier——Ferry——Ciqikou
❖ DAY3: Dazu Baoding Mountain Rock Carvings——Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street in the evening
❖ DAY4: White Mansion/Zhazidong——Mountain City Trail——Eighteen Ladders
❖ DAY5: Return home from Jiangbei Airport
✈️Transportation:
The plane is at Jiangbei Airport, it is recommended to take the high-speed rail at Chongqing North Station. Online car-hailing is generally cheap. The starting price for taxis is 10 yuan. It is recommended to walk in the Jiefangbei Hongya Cave area in the city center, walking is faster than taking a taxi. Due to the terrain of Chongqing, vehicle travel may be a bit roundabout and traffic is heavy, traffic jams are common.
🏡Accommodation:
If you spend most or all of your time playing in Yuzhong District, it is recommended to stay near Jiefangbei Chaotianmen. I live near Chaotianmen Metro Station, which is convenient for transportation and can walk to Jiefangbei Hongya Cave and other downtown areas. If you live near Jiefangbei, the hotel is basically a commercial house renovation, there may be multiple hotels in one building, the elevator is crowded, the sound insulation effect is poor, and the infrastructure is old.
🎫Attraction tickets and reservation matters
(1) To Ciqikou Ferry, it departs on the hour. The single trip is 40r, the voyage is 1h, and you can buy tickets online for Chongqing Jiaoyun Liangjiang Tour or Jiaoyun Water Sightseeing (there is a free shuttle bus to the ancient town after getting off the boat)
(2) White Mansion tickets are free, but need to be reserved in advance
(3) It is recommended to buy tickets for Dazu Rock Carvings online, it is more cost-effective to buy a package, and it is recommended to take a sightseeing car in the scenic area. (For details, see the Dazu Rock Carvings Guide on the homepage)
🧢Items to bring and wear:
ID card, half-price or free ticket documents, umbrella.
Chongqing's winter is relatively humid and cold, with heavy fog, and cloudy and rainy days are the most common. The temperature is not too low, it is recommended to wear a coat, thin sweater, etc. The specific outfit depends on the weather forecast on the day of the trip.
🌶Specialties and food:
Specialties: Bridgehead, Mingyang and other hot pot base materials, Chen Chang Silver Twist, etc.
Food: Small noodles, mixed noodles, wontons, brown sugar rice cakes, various community old hot pots, etc.
🌸Other matters:
(1) If you want to taste Shuangliu Old Mother Rabbit Head in Jiefangbei, you can go and buy it. There is a Wang Su Sheng Mahjong Cake that is also quite delicious, but it is a bit expensive. The prices on the entire pedestrian street are almost the same, you can buy and taste appropriately.
(2) Hongya Cave is crowded at night, and the price for soliciting photos is basically 30r per photo (not necessary).
(3) You can use the online car-hailing software to carpool from the city to Dazu, which is cheaper per capita than cars and trains and saves time. It is cost-effective. It takes about two hours to get from Chaotianmen to Baoding Mountain. (Excluding peak traffic periods)
(4) Ciqikou Ancient Town is heavily commercialized, but there are many free tastings inside, and the girls are very enthusiastic, and there are many performances worth watching.
(5) It is recommended to go to Zhazidong first and then to the White Mansion. In this way, there are fewer uphill sections to walk, the straight-line distance is 1km, the actual walking time is 30 minutes, and there are a lot of uphill sections in the White Mansion, which is not recommended for the elderly and children. Chongqing·China
I happened to stumble upon Shibati when walking around the city. The setting is traditional, quaint and a nice place to go for food as there are plenty of stalls and shops selling food and drinks🥤It was quite crowded during the early evening. Walking up the slope path is fine as it is not too steep. There is a Line Friend shop, which not one carries the Line Friends product but other local made products. Reasons to Recommend: A place to visit if you are seeking for local snacks or souvenirs.
It is named after the 18 stone ladders built on a steep hillside and is an iconic landscape of Chongqing city. The 18 ladders are located on the mountainside and scattered among each other, forming a unique picture. These ladders are made of stone to facilitate pedestrian passage. The ladders were built as early as the 1950s, when they were used as transportation for local residents to get up and down the city. Walking on the 18th ladder, you can enjoy the strong old city style of Chongqing. The ladder is lined with narrow lanes, old residential buildings on both sides, and traditional wooden staircases and cross-street overpasses. It retains many of the old Chongqing features, such as traditional courtyards, red brick walls and old wooden windows. The whole scenic spot is filled with a strong folk atmosphere, making people seem to have entered the past through time. In general, the 18th ladder in Chongqing is a traditional scenic spot with characteristics and historical significance. It not only provides transportation to the top of the mountain, but also shows the unique charm of Chongqing's old city. When you come here, you can feel the strong historical atmosphere and appreciate the traditional culture and architectural style of Chongqing.
The 18th ladder records the history of Chongqing, witnessing the yesterday and today of Chongqing, walking on every step of the 18th ladder seems to be in the long river of history. The 18th ladder is a must-see attraction for tourism in Chongqing.
Just in the city, it is very convenient and interesting. There is a chaotic Mid-Autumn Festival scene and a feeling of crossing the ancient and modern times. It is also a bit of a small Lijiang ancient city.
Eighteen ladders are free attractions, you must see
Chongqing tour the first stop of the second day 18 ladders! The 18 ladders are also a real ancient town style! Scan the code at the door to get the free code! Enter directly! There are more things to eat inside! But the store is a bit big and the price is expensive! And it’s really tired to walk up and down the slope! Then build roads nearby! Some places can't go! I look at the map to find the way! This place should have a better night view at night!
