Longmu Imperial Ancestral Temple was built in the Qin and Han Dynasties and is associated with the Chen Family Temple in Guangzhou and Foshan Ancestral Temple. Together they are referred to as the “Three Treasures” of ancient Lingnan architecture. The building is designed in a way that reflects the characteristics of the watery area around it. The base of the temple is quite high, the floor inside and outside the hall covered in granite slabs. From the temple wafts the aroma of incense from the sticks which have been offered by devoted visitors.
