Jangsu History Museum - Gaya history west of the mountains
Jangsu History Museum (장수역사전시관) opened in 2023 as Jangsu County's first public museum. Its permanent gallery begins with evidence of people living in the region from the Late Paleolithic and continues through the Iron Age.
The central section explains Jangsu Gaya (장수 가야), a Gaya culture that developed west of the Baekdudaegan mountain range about 1,500 years ago. Tombs, beacon sites and ironworking
tools show how communities used mountain routes and local resources. Later displays introduce traces of Baekje and Silla after Gaya's decline.
The final sections use maps, written records and local figures to continue the story into later periods. A children's gallery recreates a Gaya village with hands-on activities, making the museum an accessible starting point for understanding Jangsu's history.

Nalanda University: The oldest center of Buddhist learning in the world.
The ancient Nalanda University site is located in Nalanda, Bihar, India. It comprises stupas, ancient buildings, and ruins of brick and mortar that still indicate its past prosperity, particularly its role as the largest and oldest center of Buddhist education in the world. Today, the most important and magnificent structure is the Sariputra Stupa, which contains relics of the Venerable Sariputra and is revered by Buddhists. The stupa is constructed of red brick, is very large, and is the most prominent of all the stupas in the area. Many smaller stupas and structures surround the large main stupa. The main stupa has stairs leading up, indicating that access to the upper levels was possible in the past, but it is now closed due to safety barriers. Near the main stupa are the living quarters used by monks and the place of study in the past. The current state of the Nalanda University site is filled with lush green gardens, many large trees of various species, and some areas are planted with beautiful flowers. There is also a small lotus pond. The ancient site is very clean and peaceful. Even with frequent tourists, it always feels serene. For transportation, private car or a guided tour is recommended for convenience. Nalanda is approximately 80 kilometers from Bodh Gaya. Additional recommendation: Nalanda is near Rajgir. If you have time, you can also visit many important places in Rajgir, such as Veluvana Temple, the first Buddhist temple, or Kichchhakuta Hill, etc.
