D32***28What a beautiful experience this was to travel down the Li River. The one hour round trip boat ride was worth 158 rmb. We were able to take nice photos and enjoy the scenery. It’s a trip well worth paying for..
DEL***32I spent a lovely morning touring this area as well as climbing Elephant Hill. The views from the top of the hill are breathtaking and a great place to take some beautiful photos. A must.for.anyone visiting Guilin
D32***28We enjoyed our tour of the four lakes and one river. I was able to take beautiful pictures and enjoy the sights. However, all foreigners must receive a 30 day travel code for wechat. We had only a 14 day travel history and had contact our phone company to receive the 30 day code.
E47***26What an amazing show. Zhang Yi Mou has outdone himself here. Great cast, fantastic sets, change of settings, wonderful and seamless transitions, spectacular lights and effects. Truly wonderful sound, all against the backdrop of the maginificent mountain range and on the water. A must see show. Take it from someone who worked onboard Royal Caribbean and Celebrity luxury cruise liners and is used to splendid shows of the highest calibre, on a daily basis.

lovely rooftop bar in downtown yangshuo, self serviced at the time of our visit !
when we went there were no other guests so we had all our time to take pictures from the famous spot and enjoyed a couple of beers during sunset.
it was amazing .
correct address is on 27 莲峰巷 just hidden in the famous west street
We spent three nights at Mingshi county near Vietnam border. Landscape is amazing and you are immersed among the typical southern China peaks. Life goes slows among corn fields, rivers , and local customs. some twenty minutes by car you can admire Detian transnational waterfall which border Vietnam. These waterfall are amazing and very picturesque.
it is more recommended to rent a car and self drive since the area is not serviced by any public transportation and also didi or taxi are impossible to find. your local guesthouse/hotel can help you booking a car but self driving would allow more flexibility to the traveller
😋 After many years in China I still discover new intriguing and tastebuds awaking flavors.
📍 Yangshuo in the Guangxi province (southern China 🇨🇳) was truly a culinary gem.
⏰ Breakfast: start your day with a hearty bowl of Guilin noodz with some pickles and egg
🕛 Lunch: pork with coriander sprinkled with some peanuts because why not?! Super refreshing on a hot day
🫖 Afternoon tea: there is not a tea more suitable to beat the southern heat than an osmanthus tea. Pair with some osmanthus wine if you’re adventurous.
🍽 Dinner: Apparently beer fish is a must try when in Yangshuo. I opted for shrimps and dep fried river fish instead and find an excuse to visit this beautiful place one more time!

Amazing views ❤️❤️ from the peak of Mount Laozhai in Xingping, Guangxi province.
🚶🏃♂️Getting There - we stayed in a guesthouse on one of the the old street in the central part of Xingping. From here you can get to the foot of the mountain walking. The entrance to the pathway up the mountain is near This Old Place International Youth Hostel right by the pier of the Li River.
⛰️🏞️Attractions - the hike up the mountain took about 40 mins. It was quite steep but short enough so not too strenuous. The pathways are a little slippery so make sure you have adequate footwear, particularly when descending. There is no entrance fee. We attempted to do a sunrise hike but it was too misty at the top on the day we went. It did clear later so we managed to get some good photos.
🏅Overall it was definitely worth a visit if you are in Xingping.
Beautiful landscape views from Moon hill in Yangshuo.
🚲🛵Getting There - we rented bicycles and were able to reach many of the attractions around Yangshuo. Biking is a great way to experience the fresh air and lovely scenery. We rented bicycles in the central part of Yangshuo.
⛰️Attractions - tickets to enter the area were 40 RMB per person. Took about 30mins of climbing to reach the top. It's mostly stairs but you can take breaks and admire the scenery along the way. The climb wasn't too strenuous.
🍜🥛Food & Restaurants - there were some shops and restaurants around the ticketing area at the bottom. Be sure to take water for the climb up. There are some local vendors selling drinks and ice creams along the way up but the prices are slight more.
If you are in Yangshuo then definitely check out the Moon hill. Easily accessible and great photo opportunities. Well worth a visit.
So it was our last day in Yangshuo and we had managed to book a meeting and sunset shoot with Mr Huang, a traditional cormorant fisherman turned insta-model.
We couldn't wait.
BUT, at 4pm, it started pouring with rain.. Now, it had been raining the whole trip, but those lasted a few minutes. This was different. It just didn't stop. Shoes, pants and top were wet. Even my underwear!
But we weren't worried about that. Our question was would the rain stop before we were to meet Mr Huang? We could only wait and see.
Luckily, it stopped 45 minutes before our meeting!
We met Mr Huang by the river side. His distinctive long white beard and pair of fierce looking cormorants gave a glimpse of what the Li River would have been like decades ago.
The moment was perfect! The karst mountains was such a perfect backdrop that I stopped taking photos and just sat and watched the sun disappear.
I've met many amazing characters during my travels, but Mr Huang is by far my favorite, his smile has a magical calming presence. Pure serenity.
These moments are the ones I never forget and what I love about traveling! I'm already planning our next adventure.
The Yulong River is a small tributary of the famous Li River in Yangshuo. After doing our research on the boating experiences on each river we opted for Yulong River. We were not disappointed. The scenary during the bamboo boat tour is stunning.
Getting There🚙🚤🚲 - to get there we joined a small tour group through trip.com. The cost was 160RMB pp including one way transfer from our hotel to the river as well as boating tickets. We booked one way transfers and rented bicycles and cycled back through the ten mile gallery (also a really beautiful experience)
Attractions🗻🛥️ - the Yulong River was really amazing. We arrived early in the morning and the river was so quiet and peaceful. The boat captain's are friendly and feel safe. There wasn't any motorized boats on the river so it was really quite. The boating experiences was about an hour which was enough time to take in all the sights.
Food & Restaurants🍦🍪🍢 - make sure you have a good meal before going. Mostly you can only find snacks, ice creams and cold drinks nearby the river.
Xianggong Hill offers a different angle to see the beauty of the Li River. It is such an amazing place to see the sunrise, the view is just breathtaking!
If you wish to take photos, the best time is early morning. It was beautiful sunrise on the Xianggong hill. Definitely the best sunrise I ever saw in my life! Needed to wake up at 3:30 a.m. and take a bus to the hill (bus takes around 40-50 minutes) and then clump the hill. It takes around 15 minutes to climb up to the hill, and when you are on the top you can see a beautiful river and countless mountains around.
Xianggong Hill is on the west shore of the Li River, near Xingping ancient fishing town, about 28 km from Yangshuo and 60 km from downtown Guilin.
The fee for the site is 60 yuan per person
plus I paid 20 yuan for the bus from Yangshuo to Xianggong hill.
I don’t think there’s more to say that hasn’t been said already about Yangshuo.
It is a magical place surrounded by fairy mountains, it’s peaceful, clean and people are very nice and welcoming to tourists.
I went there on December and the weather was awesome, you can rent an ebike and explore around.
Plenty of choices for gorgeous hotels with swimming pools and rooftops.
I recommend Waterside Boutique Hotel, it is very beautiful and staff is helpful and caring.
