M44***33The main square is located in the center of Locarno and is the starting point for visiting other attractions. During the film festival, a huge screen will be hung on the main square to show open-air movies. It is a 5-minute walk from the train station.
M44***33Located on the top of the hill to the north of Locarno, it is a small residential area with some eye-catching modern buildings. Here, the hillside where the Church of Our Lady of Sasso is located allows a more comprehensive view of the opposite side. It can be reached by ropeway or driving up to the top of the mountain. Caldada is the sunniest mountain in Switzerland in winter. It only takes 5 minutes to reach Caldada by the aerial tramway designed by the famous architect Mario Botta.
M49***70The Visconti Castle is in the city of Locarno, not far from the main square, within walking distance. Most of the castle has been damaged, and part of the original building is still preserved, showing the vicissitudes of history. Visiting the castle is free, and part of the castle is now a museum.
Locarno is a southern Swiss town and absolutely great for couples. The hotel is spotless clean and the views are amazing. Its also a canton city and they speak Italian.A good place to go for honeymoon or with your lover to relax.I highly recommend this place!
One of my favorite places in Switzerland, The ride to Sonogno is wonderful. I did it by Post bus with a tour group, so no chance to stop along the way at either the amazing dam or the jumping bridge. Sonogno itself is quite charming. With some extra time, the 20 minute walk to Froda is well worth it. It's not a world-beater for height, but it is scenic and a change from the village experience
Ascona used to be a small fishing village. Nowadays, many Europeans like to come here for a holiday and hold a wedding. It is a quiet lakeside town with beautiful scenery. Ascona is adjacent to Lake Maggiore and on the other side is France. In Ascona, explore the interesting shops in the winding alleys of the stone road, or take a walk along the blue lake Maggiore, or sit in the open-air stalls of the colorful lake. A guest ice cream, bathing in the sun, is extremely enjoyable.

Take the cable car to the Caldada Lookout, and as the cable car slowly heads to the top, the town of Locarno has a panoramic view. The Caldada Lookout is a beautiful bridge that hangs between the canopy of the forest. Standing here, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Lake Maggiore, Cento Valley and the Machia Valley in 180 degrees. And this viewing platform, which is regarded as one of Switzerland's five amazing landscape designs, may be a challenge for those who fear high, because the platform is really a deep abyss.
