💟 Pre-trip preparation
✓ Flight tickets + hotel
✓ Rubles (approx. 10,000 per person/day)
✓ Power adapter
✓ SIM card + various apps (Google Maps, Google Translate, Yandex)
✓ Data SIM card
✓ Light jacket (large temperature difference between day and night here, windy, prone to sudden showers)
Day 1
[Red Square - GUM Department Store - The Kremlin]
Transport: Metro
Food: GUM Department Store ice cream, Russian "knockoff" McDonald's
Stay: Moscow
Day 2
[Cathedral of the Armed Forces] - Metro station check-in (Line 10, Dostoevskaya Station)
Transport: Metro - train - bus
Food: Cafeteria inside the Cathedral of the Armed Forces (taste is average)
It's hard to get a taxi at the Cathedral of the Armed Forces, and you'll have to wait a long time if you do, so I suggest waiting patiently for the bus.
Evening: Overnight train → St. Petersburg
Day 3
[Nevsky Prospect - Kazan Cathedral - Winter Palace]
You can choose a cafe to grab a bite on the way to the Winter Palace; food and drinks are not allowed inside, and be prepared to walk until your legs give out.
Transport: Metro
Food: Bakery on Nevsky Prospect
Stay: St. Petersburg
Day 4
[Summer Palace]
Transport: Metro + bus there, boat back. (Note: Bus tickets are checked frequently in St. Petersburg, so make sure you validate/scan successfully.)
Food: Georgian restaurant Hachapuri Mariko (tastes bad, not recommended; anyone who recommends Georgian food here must have never had good Georgian food)
Stay: St. Petersburg
Day 5
[Dostoevsky Museum] - [Catherine Palace] - Neva River - Decembrist Square
Transport: Metro - bus
Food: Russian pancake chain Teremok (Russian version of a pancake shop, surprisingly the best thing I've eaten recently)
Stay: St. Petersburg
Day 6
[Cruiser Aurora] - [Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood] - Nevsky Prospect
Transport: Metro
Food: Russian restaurant Eurasia (standard fusion cuisine)
Evening: Overnight train → Moscow
Day 7
[Lenin's Mausoleum] - Check-in at Moscow Metro Line 5 stations
Stay: Moscow
Day 8
[Sparrow Hills Observation Deck - Moscow State University]
Food: Mu-Mu
Evening: Return trip
Although traveling in Russia is full of obstacles, it has a high safety rating, drones have no impact at all, Russians are very enthusiastic, and overall, the experience was absolutely amazing!
