Ruzhou (汝州) is located in the west-central region of Henan Province, and is the regional central city of Southwest Henan. The Beiru River runs through the whole region from west to east. It is the capital of Ru pottery and the home of Qu opera. Ruzhou is referred to as “the sea of coal” due to its standing as an important base for the energy and chemical industries in China’s central region. Famous attractions include Fengxue Temple, the Guaipo Scenic Area, the Ru Pottery Museum, the Ruzhou Confucian Temple, and the Han and Tang Imperial Shentang Hot Springs.
