To be honest, I was quite gutted when we realized Fallingwater was closed on our rest day. Such a bummer, right? But anyway, my old classmate—bless him—saved the day and drove me down to check out the Gropius House instead. It's located near Walden Pond, which is super beautiful and peaceful, totally my vibe.
Now, I'm no design expert or architect (just a yoga teacher who loves spending his free time in the mountains!), but seeing this Bauhaus masterpiece up close... man, it hits different. We’ve all seen photos of these minimalist designs, but standing right there in the actual space? You really appreciate the genius of Walter Gropius. Every single corner, the clean lines, the way the light comes in—it’s so simple yet so functional. Honestly, it kind of reminded me of a good yoga flow—no unnecessary clutter, just focusing on the essentials.
Being there really felt like a throwback to classroom days, just soaking in all the history and details. Makes you want to stay curious about the world, you know? Like they say, "Stay hungry, stay foolish." If you're ever around the area, definitely make a detour. Don't need any fancy setup or gear, just bring yourself and enjoy the peace!
