Getting There - Nanshan Cultural Park is quite far from city center. From Dadonghai, I took a bus and the ride was about 1.5-2hours. There’s always the option for you to take a DiDi but it would obviously be quite pricey. I recommend the bus. It’s cheap and easy. Attractions - Stunning huge park with tons of beautiful flowers, temples, and a giant Buddha. Food & Restaurants - I went to the vegetarian restaurant and it was pretty decent. The cost was about 80¥ for a buffet. Shopping - There are some souvenir shops. Recommended time: We stayed for about 4.5 hours. I recommend you plan on staying at least 4 hours. Nanshan Culture Tourism Zone is located around 40 kilometers from Sanya. I took bus #55 in both directions from Dadonghai to get here, the price of the bus was around 13 yuan each way. It took more than an hour to arrive, but it was a comfortable aircon bus ride. When you arrive got ready for a long walk because the complex is huge! The Buddhist statue Guanyin in the sea is probably the most famous and recognized part of this huge temple complex, however there is so much more to see. The zone has 3 theme parks: Buddhism Culture Park, Blessing and Longevity Park, and Hainan Custom Culture Park. Nanshan Culture Tourism Zone is absolutely must visit place in Hainan as a big part of chineese culture and just a very beautiful park. The sea view from different points in this park is just breathtaking. It will take the whole day to check and visit all location of the park. Don’t forget to put on light shoes, get a hat and grab enough water! And if you're not a fan of walking, especially while exposed to direct sunlight in summer, then buy the entrance ticket that includes electic bus. About South Sea Guanyin: ✨Approved by the State Council in 1993 and completed in 1999, the temple is backed by mountains and faces the sea, located on a coast in Yacheng, Sanya, known as the South Sea Guanyin, with the backing mountain called Nanshan. 🌟It is the world's first golden jade statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva, and the treasure of Hainan Island. The Guanyin statue is 108 meters tall, with three aspects holding a lotus, a pearl, and a sutra box, respectively, standing on a lotus throne with 108 petals. Below the lotus throne is the Vajra Platform, which houses the Circular Hall, and the 280-meter-long Puji Bridge connects to the mainland. 📍Location: Nanshan Temple is located in Tianya District, surrounded by three scenic spots: Xidao, Tianya Haijiao, and Tianya Town. 🚗Transportation: It's a 1-hour drive from the downtown area, with a round-trip taxi fare of 160, self-driving is recommended. To hug the Buddha's feet, you need to take the elevator to the 4th floor and then climb 3 flights of stairs to reach the top, first circle around the Buddha's feet before hugging them. No need to bring your own incense, there is free incense available at every worship spot in the park. When offering incense, donate incense money as you wish, so it counts as your contribution (can be small amounts like one or five yuan). Do not blow out the incense with your mouth, gently fan it out with your hand, and offer incense with your left hand. When entering the hall, enter from the left and exit from the right, do not step on the threshold. When taking a photo with a Buddha statue, do not make a peace sign ✌️ as it will cut off your blessings, you can put your hands together and close your eyes lightly. When making a wish, be focused, report your name to yourself first, then start wishing, do not make wishes casually, and you must fulfill your vow once the wish is granted. No photography is allowed inside the Circular Hall, always remember. Luggage storage is available at the tourist service center at the ticket office, 5 yuan per locker per day.
