Introduction

Tianshi Cave is the main Taoist temple in Qingcheng Mountain. According to the legend, in the late Eastern Han Dynasty the founder of Tianshi Taoism—Zhang Daoling—trained and taught here. The currently extant temple was built in late Qing Dynasty. In the temple there is an inscription by Emperor Kangxi. In the cave there's also a stone statue of Zhang Tianshi from the Sui Dynasty. The ancient trees around Tianshi Cave are tall and straight and lend the area much of its serene solemnity. There are buildings such as Sanqing Hall, Sanhuang Temple and Huangdi Temple.
