Grassmarket Photos

Glass Square (Hay Market) is a long and narrow square almost at the foot of Edinburgh Castle. In ancient times it was an execution ground, but now it is one of Edinburgh's beautiful, modern areas. There are many restaurants in the square and the surrounding streets, and Edinburghs are often noisy late into the night. Statue of the righteous dog Bobby: There is a bronze statue of a little poodle on the intersection of George IV Bridge Street and Candomec Road. It is the righteous dog Bobby who deeply moved the people of Edinburgh. After Bobby's owner, the Rev. John Gray, died in 1858, Bobby stood guard over the grave for 14 years until his death in 1872. To commemorate Bobby, people built this bronze statue for him. Its tomb is at the entrance of Graves Church next to it. In front of the tombstone, there are still bouquets and toys presented by mourners from time to time. Its owner is also buried in the church.
