Check out seals at Cape Cross
Renowned as one of the largest settlement of these animals in the world, the colony of Cape fur seals at Cape Cross marks the spot where the first European explorer set foot on the coast of Namibia in 1486. Originally marked by a cross erected in honour of the king of Portugal by explorer Diego Cao, the spot just north of the fishing haven of Henties Bay is now home to a thriving colony of more than 200 000 seals.
Attracted by the good fishing provided by the nutrient-rich waters of the Benguela current, the seals congregate on the rocky shoreline year-round, with bull seals arriving in large numbers towards the end of October. It was so mindblowing to see the large number of seals at this coastal area, making a lot of noise or just lazing under the sun.
Visitors can lose themselves in this noisy hubbub, viewing the captivating interactions of the seal colony from an extensive walkway, separated from the mass of seals by a low wall. Stroll along the breadth of the colony, picking up interesting details about the lives of the seals at information points scattered around the grounds.
Tips: It is a 1h 30 min drive from Swakopmund to Cape cross seal colony. It is better to get a rental car and go there on your own. Pay and register at the entrance to the park, then drive in further for another 5 minutes. #namibia #cape cross #seals #deals #animals #wildlife #safari
When we arrived at the Seal Beach in the Cross Bay, a thick seal of life tasted in front of us. I had to listen to my friends and said that I must be mentally prepared, but when I saw the ones on the beach, I moved in and out. The smell of stench was thrown into the back of the head, and the excited seals were observed.
Searise life of the seals, wake up every day, swim in the sea, go to the beach to sunbathe, sleep together, sleep together, they move the chubby body, use the mouth It screams like a pig, and some like a lamb yelling for a mother.
The hundreds of thousands of seal homes, every few minutes there will be a very interesting scene, dozens of seals led by the sea leopard, from the beach to the sea, the mighty, The momentum is awkward, don't look at them being bulky, but "running" is also very fast. In this group of people, they like to sleep most, three or two make up a group, one sleeps better than one.
Do they think about it, what kind of world will the other end of the sea be?

The Whale Bay Port was first discovered on December 8, 1487 by the Portuguese voyager Bartolomeu Dias.
In the early 20th century, the Republic of South Africa and Namibia belonged to the same country. After Namibias independence from South Africa in 1990, only the remaining Whale Bay Port was still not included in the Namibian territory, making it once the territory of South Africa. It was only officially returned to Namibia in 1994. In 1977 South Africa was assigned to the Cape Province of South Africa.

Swakopmund: Where the Desert Meets the Ocean
Swakopmund is a peaceful coastal city where the Atlantic Ocean meets the desert, making it a perfect place for relaxation and rejuvenation. The warm sunsets cast a beautiful glow over the city as day turns into night, and the unique German colonial architecture adds to the charm of this unique city.
From exploring the beaches to wandering the streets, Swakopmund offers plenty of opportunities to appreciate the beauty of this city.
During my visit, I had an unforgettable quad biking excursion in the desert with Desert Explorer. The 2-hour Explorer Quad Bike tour was a thrilling adventure through the unique flora and fauna of the desert. Our knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide stopped at various points of interest, providing us with fascinating insights into the local environment. Overall, this excursion was a fantastic way to spend 2.5 hours, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
Note: While there are many shuttle companies in Swakopmund, I would recommend hiring a car as transport can be relatively pricey.

We were in Swakopmund Namibia for the festive season. One of the fun things to do in Swakop is try out many restaurants because the food in this small town is phenomenal. We went place to place and tried out food like sea food, Italian food, desserts and breakfasts then we finally stumbled on a place that does it all the best…Blue Grass!!
Blue Grass is a restaurant located outside of Swakopmund’s only mall. It is on a pier and has the gorgeous view of the ocean. Sunsets are the best times to go.

Jetty 1905 Restaurant Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Only the beauty and the food can't live up to.
This is perfectly confirmed at the Jetty 1905 Sea Restaurant in Swakopmund, Namibia. This is a century-old restaurant that began in 1905. It is located in the midst of the raging Atlantic Ocean. It connects to the coast through a long trestle. Through this turbulent bridge, it seems to cross into another world. All the windows here are transparent. Even the kitchen is transparent, and every guest can clearly see that the food on the table is made by people's hands.
The most beautiful moment at sunset, through the glass window, watching the sun sink into the sea inch by inch, the sky changes from blue to orange red, and finally is swallowed by the sea, as if completing a vast ceremony, this When the delicious oysters and unique sushi just came up, under the orange shimmer, a big mouth ate the most beautiful part of the day.
Before the sunset is about to disappear, I ran to the observation deck on the second floor of the restaurant. In addition to the beautiful scenery, there are three pairs of foreign couples and couples, warmed by this bowl of dog food, in the world, the beauty And food is a cure for medicine.
But don't forget, this restaurant needs to be booked in advance~
