Huangyandong Scenic Area

Huangyan Cave is located at the foothills of the southwest of Shiziyan in Heerkou Management District, Heerkou Town, Fengkai. It is a solitary Triassic limestone peak standing in a karst valley. The front of the cave is a sloping field, and the mountains behind it are horizontal, with undulating peaks. The entrance of the cave faces southwest with a relative elevation of 15 meters. The cave can be divided into upper and lower floors. There are branch holes on the west and south sides of the cave hall. In 1980, the People's Government of Guangdong Province announced it as a provincial cultural relics protection unit.

Huangyan Cave, there is a cool dazzling name: Triassic limestone Gufeng. In fact, I didn't understand how to understand... A Triassic limestone Gufeng stands in the karst valley, the cave front is a slope, behind the mountains, peaks and undulations. The cave is located in the southwest of the cave, with a relative height of 15 meters, and the cave is divided into two layers, each with a branch of the cave. Two fossils of the ancient human skull were excavated in 1964. One of the adults is quite intact. According to the carbon dating, the 14th year is 11930±200 years ago. It is a late Homo sapiens. There are 30 species of fossil fauna in Huangyandong, which belongs to the panda jian dentifera fauna in south China. The age of the fossil fauna is 13.6±0.9 million years ago, reflecting the ecological environment of the subtropical region at that time. The cave cultural remains represented by Huangyan cave and Duzai site in Yangchun are valuable materials for studying the regional culture aspect from about 10,000 years ago and earlier.
