Church
Historical Architecture
_We***49this church cant be miss . is near donwtown and is walking distance from the port as well. Do avoid noon time as it get crowded with all the tour bus . As for the church it is Grand and impressive exterior with a huge open plaza in the front. When on top of the steps, you get great views of Helsinki. Interior is a bit more muted and spartan but tastefully done. The organ is beautiful and shows really well inside the church. The pulpit and altar have simple, clean lines and are both very elegant. Allow about 30-45 mins for a visit.

Church
E33***72A refreshing design from the usual European churches/cathedral. This church is carved out from a rock and its unique UFO exterior design is a must see for architecture buffs! Doesn’t take long - about 30mins to explore and right in town.

DJDQSibelius Park was built to commemorate the Finnish musician Sibelius. The main body is an abstract statue similar to a pipe organ made up of 600 hollow stainless steel pipes. The architectural style is particularly advanced and it is completely post-modern. It was built 100 years ago. At that time, I don’t know if people at that time can accept it. There is also the Sibelius Monument in the park. The statue has a solemn expression, and an upward curved semicircle is specially carved on his forehead, which highlights his depth and wisdom.

sculptorThe fortress of Finland (Suomenlinna) is built on eight islands about 4 kilometers southeast of the center of Helsinki, Finland. Its original name, the Swedish Castle, was built by the Swedish King in 1748 to defend against Russian expansion. Russia began to occupy the fortress during the Finland war until Finland became independent in 1918.

E31***18This is not a fancy train station but it is perfectly located in the city center and has all the amenities you would want, including cafes and a pub. Check out the food trucks around the station on weekends.
