From Te Anau to Milford Sound, not far from Nabo Rest Station, the road will turn to the west. On the right, there is a turbulent but clear stream that follows the Homer Tunnel. This is the famous Monkey Creek. I went back and forth many times and never saw a monkey. Later, after learning about it, I learned that someone who lived here before had a dog named Monkey. It liked to play in the stream very much and was named after it. At a bend near the Homer Tunnel, the mountain suddenly opened up, and many tourists got off the car to get a small bottle of water. It is said that the water is especially sweet when taken back to make tea.
