We had the most amazing service by Valentino, the best food selection and the quality and presentation was outstanding. Sitting outside near the beach on a warm night was an added bonus. We definitely will be back again.
The food at Acquafresca is always excellent - fresh and authentically Italian - great pasta and pizzas. We went as a group of 4 and really enjoyed our range of individual pizza and pasta. Unfortunately we didn't have the best waiter - not at all attentive (we ran out of both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks) and ended up going back into the Harbord Diggers for another round of drinks - lol, you know when it all get's too hard. And, I'd recommend when booking requesting a table away from the kitchen which is a real thoroughfare with "spongy floor" and heat coming from the kitchen. Against the wall is a better ambiance. We will definitely be back for the food !
While the host was lovely and provided great service, we were actually extremely disappointed with the food. The arancini were mediocre at best and the pasta was a let down. The focaccia and pizza was nice. The tiramisu is average. We went on a $40 per head special which was advertised as 50% off. However, the price of the food had we ordered a la carte would have been $99. The menu advertised tea and coffee included but then we were charged $10 for it. So we essentially paid $90 for food worth $109. No real bargain! We felt completely cheated.
A disappointing evening with a friend visiting from Melbourne. I booked via The Fork and requested a table away from the window (and I called to confirm this). On arrival the maitre-de was rude and arrogant and asked whether I wanted to sit outside instead of by the window. We were seated by the window which is cold due to the constantly opening door behind. We ordered a pizza and pasta to share. The pizza was served piping hot and was delicious (a truffle pizza) - arguably the best pizza in Sydney. The pasta was delivered to the table at the same time and was luke warm (so must have been made first and delayed to wait for the pizza).
