Temple of the Gadaladenia

Located on a hilltop. Available by car. 13 km from Kandy. Mixed culture of Sinhalese (mostly) and Hinduism. Built by King Zhou Lama Bahu. If interested in Buddhism and culture, this is an ideal place. Pants and long sleeve tops should be worn. We have visited so many temples and this one is different from ordinary. We feel it should not be found by most tourists, but locals come often. It is being renovated and there are scaffolding, but in the small details, it is still impressive, the painting inside is really amazing. Not only that, the two or three buildings outside are also very interesting, and again, the painting is amazing. It was a super fun place and we would love to go again if we had the chance. The interaction with the kids outside was also very good and fun.

The monastery is more than ten kilometers away from Kandy and needs to be chartered. The area is small and worships the gods of Buddhism and Hinduism. There are exquisite murals in the main temple, beautiful sculptures on the exterior walls, and the three white towers next to it are very distinctive. Tickets are currently free.

Gardaladenia Monastery (Gadaladeniya Raja Maha Vihara), This is a Buddhist holy place in Kangdi City. There are three Buddhist temples. There are many stone Buddha statues and metal Buddha statues in the courtyard. Very quiet monastery with many locals visiting it.

The restoration of the temple was evident in the destruction of the former colonists, which was more than 600 years old. Now, although it looks dilapidated, it is still very high in the local people's hearts, but there are not many people every day.
