It was so fun to watch those ships sailing in the Locks system. Since the locks are all manually operated, the lock attendants work hard on very hot days. It is also a good place to walk by the river.

The town of Bay is an old name for Ottawa, and its name is derived from John Bay, the conductor of the Lido Canal Project. The Baytown Museum is a stone building between the Capitol and the Fairmont Laurie Castle Hotel, located at the entrance to the Ottawa River on the west bank of the Lido Canal, marking the northernmost end of the Lido Canal. The building was first built in 1827 as a warehouse and food supply for the British Army, with three-story buildings with dignified symmetry, exquisite doors and windows, typical Georgian style. During the construction of the Lido Canal, it was transformed into an engineering headquarters, and is now a museum, displaying information related to the Lido Canal and Ottawa history. Outside the Baytown Museum, a series of locks can be seen across the Lido Canal, commonly known as the Ottawa Lock. They are important facilities in the Lido Canal Project and are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
