Xewkija is a village on the island of Gozo, Malta, with a population of more than 3,000 people. It is the fourth most populated area in Gozo. It is located between Għajnsielem and the capital Victoria. It is the oldest village in Gozo. In 1678, it became the first parish outside of Victoria. The famous round church in Xwkija is the largest church in Gozo. It was built by local masons and craftsmen with Maltese stones. Its dome occupies the entire village. The church can accommodate 3,000 people, which is equivalent to the entire population of Xwkija village. This church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist and was completed in 1981. It is claimed to be the fourth largest supporting dome in the world, 74 meters high, 27 meters in diameter, and 85 meters in circumference.
