Austria's 'Little Castle'—Experience the Passage of Time in the Old Town of Graz
Graz is called Austria's 'Little Castle' because the word 'Graz' comes from the Slavic language, originally meaning a small castle. Today, Graz has become Austria's second-largest city, with the Mur River, a tributary of the Danube, flowing through it. The old town is located on the eastern bank of the Mur River—this is also where the attractions of Graz are concentrated.
🌟 Highlights:
The Armoury Museum
Graz is the hometown of Schwarzenegger, who was an actor before becoming a governor, and it happens to have the world's largest armoury museum, which is as tough in style as Schwarzenegger himself. The weapons here are well-preserved, many of them gleaming with a cold light, as if they are still imposing on the battlefield.
Schlossberg (Castle Hill)
Climb to the top of Schlossberg to overlook the entire little town of Graz and feel the serene atmosphere surrounding you. When descending the hill, you can choose to take a slide, which is both fun and exciting.

Austria’s Second Largest City
Graz is the second largest city of Australia and the capital of federal state Styria. I remember that our tour guide mentioned too that Graz is the is the birthplace of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
We went up to the 473-metre high Graz Schlossberg for the best vantage point to enjoy the view of the city. Aside from the picturesque views of the old and new Graz, the park features a 28 meter clock tower, which is the traditional and most beloved symbol of city.
Going down the park, one can take a leisure climb down via stairs to enjoy more of the view (which my husband and I chose) or take the Slide Graz going down for a very exciting 30-40secs. It is said to be the highest underground slide in the world 😊🍂.

Autumn visiting Kunsthaus Graz 🗺️
#fallingseason
My autumn visit to Kunsthaus Graz was a fascinating and creative experience. Located in the heart of Graz, this contemporary art museum stands out with its distinctive architecture. Nearby attractions include the historic Hauptplatz, the Schlossberg, and the beautiful Stadtpark, making it a hub for culture enthusiasts and travelers alike.
In the fall, Kunsthaus Graz offers a unique backdrop for artistic exploration. The trees surrounding the museum take on their autumnal hues, creating a beautiful contrast to the building's futuristic design. The crisp air and the sound of leaves rustling added to the tranquil atmosphere.
The museum itself is a masterpiece of modern architecture, with its innovative exhibitions and thought-provoking contemporary art installations. The rooftop viewing platform offers panoramic views of Graz's urban and natural landscapes.
Exploring Kunsthaus Graz in autumn feels like a journey through creative expression amidst the changing seasons. It's a must-visit for art enthusiasts, offering a harmonious blend of nature, culture, and contemporary art. I look forward to revisiting this artistic gem in Graz. #austria #autumn #graz #museum
